Kiln God : ウィキペディア英語版
Kiln God

Kiln gods (or goddesses) originated in ancient times when pottery first came about in places like China and Egypt it is not exactly clear. They were made from clay left over from the pot or sculpture you are about to fire. Some people leave the kiln gods with their natural clay color when they dry out; but some have taken it upon themselves to paint them and give them more life. The kiln god is never fired and left on top of a kiln, until it deteriorates over time.
Even though the kiln gods never get fired doesn't mean you cant fire them if you really wanted to. When the kiln god is finished or you have gotten bored of it you just make another one. Kiln gods are not based on religious beliefs (although some would argue otherwise) they are just there as a sort of good luck charm like a rabbit's foot or a four leaf clover. Kiln gods have been based on many things like animals or the artists personal gods and beliefs, but they can be anything, let you mind go wild when creating one and just have fun with them!!
